The only difference between unpartnered women and our other patients is that single women might not know whether they have fertility issues because they haven’t tried to get pregnant with a partner. In these cases, they simply need a little help to get the pregnancy going. At IVF Plano, we can do that!
You likely have questions that an experienced fertility specialist can address. Here are some of the most common questions single women ask Dr. James Douglas at their initial consultation:
Single women have two options for assisted pregnancy at IVF Plano, depending on their fertility situation: intrauterine insemination, or IUI, and in vitro fertilization, IVF.
Single women have several options for choosing sperm. At IVF Plano, we work with patients who choose to conceive with sperm from a friend (known donor) or an anonymous sperm donor. This is completely up to the mother-to-be. Please look at our Donor Sperm page to get more information.
It often takes more than one IUI to get pregnant. Dr. Douglas and the IVF Plano team are there every step of the way to ensure the best chances for success.
If a pregnancy doesn’t result in the first IVF cycle, we can freeze extra embryos, and additional cycles will be recommended with the reserve embryos.
Cryopreservation of your oocytes (eggs) helps preserve and protect future fertility.
Your circumstances need not damper the exciting prospect of becoming a mother. Contact us at IVF Plano to learn more about pregnancy options for single women.
