Fertility treatment can be a real turkey over the holidays, but IVF Plano commits to keeping you on track while accommodating your travel plans. Your in-vitro fertilization (IVF) cycle or time-sensitive fertility treatment regimen may require some office time during Thanksgiving week, but don’t let that interfere with time spent with family and friends.
Dr. Jim Douglas and our fertility center staff hope you will enjoy a relaxing week and blessed Thanksgiving Day.
If you have travel plans that take you beyond the Dallas-Fort Worth area, IVF Plano gathered our favorite travel tips to get you from point A to B with minimal stress.
The skies and roads will be busy. In fact, AAA predicts that 43.6 million Americans will travel this week, up 0.7 percent from 2011. Plan ahead, arrive early at D/FW airport and try to travel light.
Keep Calm & Carry-on: If you rarely travel by air, check the FAA website for a complete list of carry-on do’s and don’ts, or ask a frequent flier for advice. Your fertility medications need to remain in the original packages and checked through security. Remember that wrapped gifts, most liquids (including jams, jellies, and syrups in gift baskets) and, of course, weapons won’t fly. Whole turkeys, however, are allowed onboard as long as the poultry is frozen solid.
Surviving Drive Time: The drop in gas prices may have inspired you to hit the road this Thanksgiving. Gasbuddy.com provides a cost comparison by zip code so you can save even more. IVF Plano encourages you to schedule a pre-trip inspection of tire pressure, wiper fluid, break lights and oil level. Many car dealerships offer this free service. Plan your route, and bring a back up in case your e-navigation doesn’t pick up a signal; print out directions, or go old school with a map!
We’re thankful for every day that we can help couples overcome infertility. Dr. Douglas and the staff at IVF Plano wish you a happy Thanksgiving. Should you need immediate assistance over the holiday break, don’t hesitate to contact us.
